Kanye West Announces He's Running For President In 2020: Celebrities React

Well, heā€™s done it.

Kanye WestĀ officially announced that he will be running for president in the 2020 election.

On Saturday (July 4), the rapper used Independence Day to reveal the (un)surprising news on Twitter. ā€œWe must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø!ā€ the 43-year-oldĀ tweetedĀ last night with the hashtag ā€œ#2020Vision,ā€ which appears to be Yeā€™s slogan for his presidential campaign. (Weā€™ll admit, itā€™s pretty catchy.)

Call the ā€œBlack Skinheadā€ emcee crazy if you want, he has his supporters.

Among those who reacted to Yeā€™s presidential bid include wifeĀ Kim Kardashian, Tesla magnateĀ Elon Musk, and plenty of others ā€” whose responses wereā€¦ interesting, to say the least.

Kim simply shared an American Flag emoji in support of her husband, whereas Musk rooted for the rapper, writing, ā€œYou have my full support!ā€

Others, likeĀ Tiffany HaddishĀ andĀ Paris Hilton, took Yeā€™s announcement in jest.

ā€œWe must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I too am running for president of the United States šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø! #2020VISIONā€Ā wroteĀ Haddish, as Hilton retorted, ā€œPARIS FOR PRESIDENT āœØšŸ‡ŗšŸ‡øšŸ‘øšŸ¼āœØā€

The ā€œStrongerā€ musicianā€™s presidential campaign announcement shouldnā€™t come as a surprise.

As some fans may recall, Ye actually used his appearance at the 2015 iHeartRadio Music Festival to allude to his bid while singing ā€œOnly One,ā€ in which he slipped in the lyrics, ā€œYouā€™ll be the man you always knew you could be ā€” 2020.ā€
